| To relieve the burden placed on their mother, Alice Sturgis (Wanda Hawley) marries and has several children, while her independent sister, Jeanette (Mae Busch), goes to work as a stenographer. Eventually, she is forced to marry a persistent salesman to avoid a scandal.
