Details

In this delightful fantasy adventure, a mild-mannered writer of adventure stories for girls (Richard Hearne) finds himself presented with an intriguing proposition from an elderly fan (Margaret Rutherford). She suggests that they conspire to steal a secret whiskey formula from ruthless distillers, who themselves stole it from her family in years gone by. With the recipe back in hand however, it's not long before they attract attention from the Inspectors of Scotland Yard.

Richard Hearne is happily churning our children's stories for the 'Teenager" comic, when he encounters Margaret Rutherford - and is soon knee deep in a rousing crime conspiracy to pinch the secret recipe for "the MacAlister" - a legendary Scotch whisky - which is closely guarded by James Robertson J ... ustice, so she can invest the proceeds in her schools that benefit youngsters all still recovering from the after effects of WWII. It's a simple, daft comedy with plenty of scope for the two stars to do exactly that - well complimented by JRJ, Dora Bryan and Sid James. John Guillermin must have had the easiest job directing - just sit back and let the cast do their job - and they did it well.
