Mark MacLene IV (Lawford) is in huge debt despite being the beneficiary of a vast trust fund. He is simply a spendthrift. Lucy Duncan (Leigh)is a young lawyer fighting for every penny which her working class clients are owed. The trustee hires Lucy to manage Mark's finances, believing that she has t ... he tenacity to get Mark into financial control. It is a battle of titans. During and after the Great Depression, Warner Brothers produced a number of films which viewed the rich in a negative light. This film appears to be one of number of MGM films which puts the rich in a more favourable light. Your enjoyment of the film will likely reflect your world view on this subject.
