Biography

Philippe Fourastié was a French film director and screenwriter known for his contributions to French cinema in the 1960s and 1970s. He began his career as an assistant director, collaborating with notable filmmakers such as Pierre Schoendoerffer on La 317e Section (1965), Claude Chabrol on Marie-Cha ... ntal contre docteur Kha (1965), Jean-Luc Godard on Pierrot le fou (1965), and Jacques Rivette on La Religieuse (1966). Fourastié made his directorial debut with Un choix d'assassins (1966), followed by La Bande à Bonnot (1968), which depicted the life of anarchist Jules Bonnot and featured actors Bruno Cremer, Jacques Brel, and Annie Girardot. He also directed the television miniseries Mandrin (1972), focusing on the 18th-century bandit. Fourastié passed away in Tréguier, Côtes-d'Armor, France, at the age of 42.
