James Wheaton Chambers was named after his maternal grandfather, James Wheaton Smith. Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, but grew up in Freehold, New Jersey. he eventually made his way to Hollywood in the late 1920s. Shortening his name to Wheaton Chambers, he would go on to appear in over 200 fi ... lm and television productions during a career that spanned roughly three decades.
