Trending Position
If this had a slightly more decent / clearer script, better camera work and an overall better budget, it could have easily become a classic among queer movies. Unfortunately, it doesn't have any of the mentioned things. While the plot represents the universal dating experience for both queer and ... straight people and has a nice range of possible scenarios of what can be wrong with a date, the conversations feel unnatural, probably mostly because of the chosen improvised style. The ending also ruined what could have been an okay watch for me - the cliché of the closeted high school bully getting a potential redemption might have still worked in 2001 but sure doesn't 20 years later.
