We get a clue as to the mischief incoming here right from the start when a mother woodpecker decides to take a ten minute break from her nesting duties. This cartoon is only eight minutes long so she isn’t going to be back in time to save it from it’s perilous start to life! Indeed, it’s first actio ... n is to fall from it’s nest in the tree and end up assuming that “Jerry” is mum! Given it’s propensity to eat everything wooden it finds, “Jerry” decides to be shot of his new friend, but that just drives it straight into the arms/jaws/clutches of “Tom” and so they have to team up if they are not to both end up being truly scrumptious! The innocent young woodpecker drilling through just about everything is good fun delivering a few new escapades - one involving a collapsible deckchair whilst proving that “Tom” isn’t the only rake we need worry about. Jeopardy? Don’t be daft - but it’s still a quickly paced and enjoyable outing for my favourite animated characters.
