It’s sort of a mix of “Reclaim” (2014) and “Breakdown” (1997). Except for one eye-rolling scene where a vehicle is curiously able to completely surprise a group of people while traveling at light speed, it’s a well done swamp adventure/thriller marred only by the trendy muted colors and a couple annoying scenes featuring quick-editing. Any criticisms of questionable behavior can be explained by the fact that people aren't always logical in highly stressful situations. I like it because it thrusts a struggling family into a life-or-death situation in the boggy bush reminiscent of Man-Thing comics albeit without the creature. Of course the thugs are certainly monstrous enough. While I would’ve liked to see more human interest, I suppose there’s just enough for this kind of non-stop action thriller. The film runs 1 hour, 28 minutes, and was shot in Praireville, Louisiana. GRADE: B-/B read more
