I watched the Joe Rogan Report where he was interviewing a Navy SEAL and he asked him "What movie gets it right" and the SEAL replied "Navy SEALs with Charlie Sheen." So, at least we know that America's Elite, our best of the best have a good sense of humor. He had to pause before answering, as i ... f to think "What is the worst possible movie about SEALs that I can name." And it made Joe do a double take, the kind that you do when deep down you know someone's joking, but you aren't totally sure. So, Kudos to actually Navy SEALS for having a sense of humor. That is one more reason to respect them. And shame on Joe Rogan for actually believing it, even if it was just for a second. OK, all those people calling it a "classic" and a "great movie" I can almost guarantee that they first say it when they were 10 like me. I can guarantee that because, if you watch it as an adult, the movie is mindless trash that does American Special Forces a disservice. That being said...it is "mindless trash" and that isn't necessarily bad. Mindless trash can entertain and this film mindlessly entertains. In fact, the only real complaints are that it is mindless, it has a horrible plot, and it's not very realistic. The other side to that coin is that it's a good action film. The characters are kind of fun. It's not made to be a thinker. In fact, it's made to be "Top Gun" on land and that is exactly what you get, "Top Gun" on land...and sea. But without the decent soundtrack. So, sit back and watch some mindless entertainment. It's OK to be entertained and let the LCD in you relax for a little while.
